Our Mission

A little about what we do and why we do it...

The Asphalt Cowboys of Redding, Inc. is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization working under the auspices of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department.

We have two main fundraising events during the year. Our “Big Breakfast” on Friday of Rodeo Week (serving over 10,000 of your closest friends). And the Big Community Barbeque serving Tri-Tip and Chicken with our world famous "Cowboy Beans" along with the appropriate accoutrements.

Most of the funds we generate go into providing all of the Rodeo Week activities. Which are provided free of charge for the benefit of the Community. A quick look at our events schedule will provide you with a list of those events.

Our by-laws are quite limiting as to our allowed charitable works. Our main donations are to helping the Sheriff’s Department in any way we can. We have donated several K-9 Units to them, including the very first one they ever had named “Cigo” in 1997. In 2016 we contributed $5000 for the purchase of needed “armor piercing” bullet proof vests.

The Asphalt Cowboys also have created a Law Enforcement Scholarship for men and women interested in going into a career in that field. We act together with the colleges in the North State who have a Law Enforcement Curriculum and award several scholarships each year to deserving students after conferring with The Shasta County Sheriff and Redding Police Chief.
