SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
Asphalt Cowboys of Redding, California announces the Asphalt Cowboys Public Safety Scholarship.
This Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior enrolled in any high school, public or private, in Shasta County. And also past Shasta County graduates intending on, or being already involved in Public Safety programs, not otherwise paid for by Law Enforcement, Fire Fighting or Medical entities. Including, but not limited to, A Post Approved Academy or AOJ/Criminal Justice Program, a training program for EMT, firefighting or other emergency responder career at an accredited college.
Program Guidelines & Priorities:
Seeking individuals shall have with a record of volunteerism in the Shasta County community in non-school sponsored activities and/or participation in extracurricular school activities.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, plan to attend or are attending a 2- or 4-year college or technical school. In some cases, Financial Need may be a consideration.
Applicants must submit an essay consisting of a minimum of 1,000 words on the topic:
“How will I use my education for the betterment of my community?”
There will be three (3) individual Scholarships of $2,000 each paid each year. Scholarship Funds will be paid directly to the educational institute or expense reimbursement will be paid to the recipient after expense has been paid by them (original receipts to be produced), unless other arrangements are made in advance. Remaining funds, if any, will be paid directly to the winner.
Applicants must have the endorsement of their Guidance Counselor on their application attesting they are qualified for this scholarship program. Application deadline is January 31 of the award year.

The applications will be reviewed and recipients selected by a committee consisting of volunteers. The Scholarships will be awarded in April of the award year.
